Two weeks ago, Max Payne & Rockstar Games fansite webmasters were flown in from around the world for a weekend of Max Payne 3 action. Held in Rockstar's backyard of south-central Manhattan, this was the largest fansite event that the R* team has ever hosted.

We're extremely grateful for the opportunity to check out the game and meet other fansite webmasters. (Thanks, Rockstar!) We're psyched for the release of Max Payne 3.

It's been nearly 6 months since the announcement of Grand Theft Auto V, and while we were treated to a trailer shortly after, Rockstar have remained tight-lipped on the all-important details such as release date and protagonist.

Fans have never been busier, however, and the GTANet Community in particular is rife with analysis and speculation.

One of the most detailed topics over at GTAForums is Mapping Los Santos. Eagle-eyed members have taken to analysing the buildings and locations shown within the GTA V trailer, matching them to real-life points in Los Angeles. To get a feel of how vast the map could be, forum member SonofUgly pinned all the locations discovered to a Google Map. Downtown LA, Hollywood, Santa Monica and as far south as San Pedro all feature, making Rockstar's Los Santos look to be the most advanced and perfectly recreated city yet.

Another hot topic is speculation about the Protagonist. On first play, we're lead to believe the protagonist is simply the narrator, but on closer inspection, a couple of different characters appear during several cut scenes. Finally, Rockstar may be going through a quiet spell with GTA, but next month will bring us the release of Max Payne 3. Fans will be able to see just how the new multiplayer Crews feature will work, since it will connect to other titles via the Social Club, including GTA V.

Community Spotlight will be a regular summary linking to some of the most popular topics from GTAForums GTA V section that encourage discussion and contribution leading up to the release.

In a new interview with IGN focused on Max Payne 3, Dan Houser has revealed that GTA V's multiplayer will support "Crews" that are to be introduced with Max Payne 3 and will be used in future Rockstar titles. Crews are essentially clan-like groups where you are rewarded for playing with other members of your crew and completing objectives together. You will also be matched with other people in your crew during matchmaking.

"The beauty of this system is that crews persist over time and across future games. Multiplayer is an ever-more important part of all our games moving forward. And by creating crews through Social Club, the crews that you create in Max Payne 3 will be ready and available for you to play in Grand Theft Auto V from day one. It's all part of our larger approach to make multiplayer deeper and richer than what's currently available, much more easily accessible to the newcomer and rewarding for the hardcore."

The interview focuses on how crews will be used in Max Payne 3, but it gives an indication for how GTA V's multiplayer may be affected by them. Read the full interview on IGN to get a better understanding of their purpose.

Rockstar has more or less confirmed that there will be no new details regarding GTA V until after Max Payne 3 is released in May. Here is what they said:

First of all, we'd like to again thank you and everyone out there for the amazing response to the debut Grand Theft Auto V trailer. We know that there are a ton of questions you all have about the game, including release date and lots else.

Right now, we are very hard at work on the game and are excited as well to show and tell you more as development progresses - expect that we'll be talking much more about GTAV starting at some point in a few months' time. Please hang tight until then and thank you all for your patience and support!

It has been around one and a half months since GTA V's debut trailer but since then Rockstar Games has been tight-lipped on giving away any new information.

Multiple magazines and publications have featured the GTA V logo on their front-pages and made claims about having "new info", though these articles have mainly been trailer analysis and speculation.

Game Informer has been the only publication to get even a snippet of information, asking a question during an interview about Rockstar's other big upcoming game, Max Payne 3:

"Game Informer: You just released the GTA V trailer. Can you talk about that project in any respect? Obviously, it looks like it's going back to San Andreas.

Dan Houser: I've got to be real careful here, or they will drag me through the office and whip me with barbwire. I will stick to exactly what's in the press release. It's Los Santos and the surrounding countryside - and a very big map."

While overall it is a reiteration of the press release, it's the first time the map size has been described, following the slightly less specific "...largest and most ambitious game Rockstar has yet created" quote from the press release.

No release date or platforms have been announced for GTA V though it is most likely to be released in 2012 for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

Is Ned Luke the voice of the narrator (and assumed protagonist) in the Grand Theft Auto V trailer?

They certainly look similar...

...not to mention sound similar.

Rockstar Games have spoken their first word today on Grand Theft Auto V with an official release statement on their Newswire.

Quashing the rumours of a return to San Andreas, they have confirmed that we're heading back to Los Santos only, but with the inclusion of "surrounding hills, countryside and beaches".

GTA 5, which is also stated to be Rockstar's "largest and most ambitious game", promises to recreate a large portion of modern day Southern California according to the statement, and money will be a heavy influence as perhaps indicated by the new style 'V' logo.

We are very proud to officially announce that Grand Theft Auto V is in full development.

Developed by series creator Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto V heads to the city of Los Santos and surrounding hills, countryside and beaches in the largest and most ambitious game Rockstar has yet created.

A bold new direction in open-world freedom, storytelling, mission-based gameplay and online multiplayer, Grand Theft Auto V focuses on the pursuit of the almighty dollar in a re-imagined, present day Southern California.

The first Grand Theft Auto V trailer debuts today, November 2nd. Here is everything you need to know in order to prepare yourself:

First of all, the countdown will end at 12:00 PM noon EDT (New York), 16:00 PM GMT (UK) and on Thursday at 03:00 AM GMT+11 (Sydney).

When the countdown (below) reaches zero, it will be replaced by the trailer. To retrieve high definition and portable versions of the trailer, press the 'Download' button after the trailer starts playing.

To discuss the trailer, register free at our forums (registering only takes a few minutes!) and head over to the GTA V section, or join the live chat on IRC.

So what can we expect from the trailer? It should reveal the location, some brief details regarding the plot, and hopefully an indication of when the game will be released. The trailer will probably last around 1 minute.
